Miami is known for its bright lights, city life, nightlife, beaches, and many other things. Hardly anyone will think about the city and digital innovation in the same breath, but the government of Miami city is about to change that by moving the city toward becoming a Web 3.0 hub.

Is Miami about to be a model for future cities? That’s left to be seen as the development unfolds.

Miami had first-hand experience and experiences a ripple effect of the NFT bull run of 2021. This was the time that Art Basel Miami was held and many NFT enthusiasts attended the event’s various locations across the city to experience one of the most notable networking events in the art industry and not only the digital art world.

Following the success of this event and the traction it gained, it only makes sense that the City of Miami is embracing NFTs wholeheartedly to remain in pole position to reap the benefits the industry might offer. The Miami City government has formed a partnership with TIME, one of the most prominent advocates of Web 3.0 in traditional media, Salesforce, and Mastercard. This partnership will launch a collection of about 5,000 NFTs designed by 56 different artists from Miami

This announcement was made on the city’s official website, and if this partnership yields positive results, it could set a tone for future cities to pursue spots in the world of Web 3.0 and leverage its potential offerings.

According to the press release, Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez said: “The City of Miami has been on the vanguard of the Web 3.0 revolution, and we will continue to employ these new technologies to support our existing businesses while attracting new ones, raise capital and provide experiences for our citizens and those visiting this great City.”

The NFT project is geared toward celebrating Miami’s vibrant culture and colorful history. And for NFT enthusiasts who will key into this project, a major component of the project launch is Mastercard’s Priceless Miami Program, which promises the NFT holders access to “unique experiences, from one-of-a-kind events at local Miami restaurants to curated, unforgettable private tours of Miami cultural institutions and other memorable activities.”

As this NFT continues to engrain itself into delivering core Miami experiences, the people of Miami can look forward to the many IRL experiences that the NFT holders stand to enjoy. The end goal for all this is to encourage people to explore the city further, make the city more active and create more revenue-earning avenues.

If the project becomes successful, Miami will become one of the first cities in the world to fully get in tune with the NFT concept. It could potentially be a model for other major U.S. cities and the world as it sponsors launches and takes an important position in the unique digital future that NFTs promise, which include a place for artists to make the most of their talents and creativity.
